It’s been open most of the summer, but Shem Creek Park Phase II will be officially unveiled august 22, 2016 at 5 p.m. Building on the character and history of the creek, the second phase of Shem Creek Park, brings more accessibility by creating a world-class waterfront walkway connecting locals and tourists to the natural beauty of the creek, local restaurants, and one-of-a-kind businesses.
The boardwalk runs from the sidewalk on Coleman Boulevard near the bridge to the existing town docks. The improvements replaced the existing privately-owned boardwalk with a safe and publicly accessible one. However, two sections of the floating dock along this section remain privately owned. The 250-foot public float is currently located at the shade structure and will be the designated location for mooring and berthing watercraft. It is commonly referred to as “the town dock.”
Construction began on September 14, 2015.
