Laurel Grove subdivision that is located across the street from the Super Walmart and Kohls Department store in the Oakland Plantation shopping complex. The Laurel Grove subdivision of 76 homes has a Charleston style and feel, as several of the homes have full front porches, detached garages and there are sidewalks throughout the community. Typical features include fire places, vinyl exterior siding, 9 ft textured ceilings on the first level of homes, and hardwood floors in the foyer. When the subdivision was first introduced to the community, there was a huge demand for these properties (as the prices were relatively inexpensive at that time) and the builder had to conduct a raffle to see who the new homeowner would be. Good location near Isle of Palms beaches and close to Historic Charleston, SC.
So, we’re coming out of IVY HALL and over on the same road is a neighborhood called LAUREL GROVE. These homes were built by Meridian Builders from 2004-2007. I like this little neighborhood. I think its a good value. There are vinyl sided homes ranging from the low $300k and maybe up to $400k, depending on square footage. These have 9 foot ceilings and hardwood floors, kitchens with Corian or granite counter tops and they have sold very well over the years. This is a small in-fill neighborhood that has done quite well, even when the economy was on the downturn. A buddy of mine who lives back here that I come to watch ball games with…..his home backs up to Mellow Mushroom, one of my favorite little pizza restaurants in Mt. Pleasant. It has sidewalks, very near to the new schools. So if you’re looking for something in Mt. Pleasant in $300k range, and you want to be close in to everything, this is a good spot. Another thing to consider, is that its right across the street from Oakland Plantation….a good shopping center.
Just coming out of IVY HALL and LAUREL GROVE and entering Oakland Plantation. It has a Super Walmart, Kohls, a new Starbucks and there are a ton of Starbucks in Mt. Pleasant if you’re a fan. Oakland Plantation is an area that was developed about 10 years ago and they had done a lot, but then it stopped with the downturn in the economy and now its back in full develop mode. There is still a lot of development in the future, some office space across the street. I like this area. You can be in downtown Charleston pretty quickly and its a good option if you don’t want to go all the way to Town Centre in Mt. Pleasant; there is a lot of shopping right here. It services a lot of neighborhoods in Mt. Pleasant
